Rejuran® is the brand name for a new class of injectable treatments called ‘ polynucleotides’. Polynucleotides are very different to Skin Hydration or Bio Filler or Facial Volume Loss treatments. Rejuran is derived from bio-active DNA fragments from wild Salmon from the Pacific Ocean, containing no immunogenic proteins means those with fish allergies can still have a treatment.
Polynucleotides are long chains of amino acids that are naturally found in your body, there is no allergy testing required pre treatment. Treatment consists of topical anesthetic (which you apply at home prior to your appointment), then small injections of Rejuran polynucleotide are placed just under the skin in the dermis. These small bumps can last from 24-48 hours, the undereye area can have mild swelling.
Rejuran is used for cellular remodeling including:
- Collagen stimulation
- Skin strengthening
- Slowing down the skins aging process
- Treatment of textural changes, fine lines and wrinkles
- Rosacea and Melasma
Results can be seen as early as the first 2 weeks, typically it takes 3-6 months for maximal collagen remodeling to occur. A series of 2-4 sessions, spaced 2-4 weeks apart is recommended for optimal results. Results will vary depending on the individual. Maintenance is required which is 1-2 sessions annually.
Currently Rejuran is the only TGA approved polynucleotide product in Australia.
