The Aging Face

Slow down the ageing process with botox and dermal fillers and beautiful skin treatments

The Aging Face

Throughout my years of being a cosmetic injector, it’s safe to say, I have amassed a great deal of information on the aging process. For me, it’s not just an industry thing, it’s a genuine topic of interest and I am always intrigued by how each person’s face ages in its own unique way.

While it’s important to remember that what we see on the outside reflects what’s happening on the inside, aging is much more than just crow’s feet and bone density.

Your Skeleton

Our skeleton sets the scene for our facial shape and prominence – ‘the bone sets the tone’.

As we age, our bone resorbs creating an ever changing frame. I put it to clients this way, ‘Imagine a smaller table, with a larger tablecloth’ as an analogy for aging. Areas of particular change include:

  • Eye sockets – the socket widens and tips down (drawing your eyes down as a result)
  • Jaw angle – becomes less acute (angle becomes blurred and jowls begin to form)
  • Lengthening – length from nose to top lip lengthens (top lip appears thinner)

 Muscle & Fat

Our fat pads also thin and separate with age and some get trapped between ligaments – think jowl fat. There are two layers of fat pads – deep and superficial, which both behave differently and therefore need to be treated with different product choices and placements.

Sometimes our muscles work a little overtime as our fat pads reduce, resulting in things like a dimpled chin and an overactive lower face creating a ‘sad’ down turned mouth.

Taking a Multifaceted Approach to Aging

In essence we age in multiple layers and must address all the layers to create a natural outcome. You simply cannot just address one area without supporting the neighbouring area. Imagine if you only painted three walls in a room – you’ll always focus on that one wall that isn’t painted and your face is just the same!

Often, multiple treatment sessions over a period of time are required. Remember, 1 ml of filler is a 5th of a teaspoon. That’s not much jelly!  If you need more, I’ll tell you and if you’re trying to do too much, I’ll also tell you. It’s so important to me that my clients know I’m not doing a sales pitch!

Why Choose Me?

My area of expertise is delivering natural results that are built over time. My point of difference is that I like to ‘Future Proof’ your gorgeous face. After 20 years of assessing thousands of faces, I am usually fairly confident in predicting your specific aging pattern. This knowledge and insight enables me to predict, prevent or prolong your unique facial aspects during your personal aging journey.

In person consultations are a must. They allow me to assess you in a three dimensional way, to see how your muscles move when you are talking and at rest. I also need to feel your tissue/skin, as this helps me with product selection. As many of you know, I love a good ‘face to face’ and don’t consult via social media or photos.

I look forward to working with you on your unique aging journey.
